Liverpool Finalise Deal for Florian Wirtz in Landmark Transfer Agreement

Liverpool have reached a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign highly-rated German midfielder Florian Wirtz, with the total deal valued at approximately €150 million including performance-related add-ons.

The 22-year-old is expected to become Liverpool’s most expensive signing to date, surpassing the fee paid for Darwin Núñez. Personal terms have been agreed, and Wirtz will undergo a medical in the coming days. Official confirmation from both clubs is anticipated shortly.

Wirtz played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s historic 2024/25 campaign, during which the club secured their first-ever Bundesliga title and lifted the German Cup. Known for his exceptional vision, creativity, and maturity beyond his years, Wirtz has been widely regarded as one of Europe’s elite young talents.

Under the leadership of new head coach Arne Slot, Liverpool view Wirtz as a key figure in their tactical evolution. He is expected to operate in an advanced midfield role or as a central attacking playmaker, complementing the likes of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai in the final third.

The contract reportedly runs for five years, with Wirtz set to earn a salary in excess of £300,000 per week. The transfer has been labelled a strategic investment in both talent and future leadership on the pitch.

This move signals Liverpool’s commitment to competing at the highest level, both domestically and in Europe. With Wirtz’s arrival, the club is entering a new phase of development, aiming to blend youth, skill, and ambition into a renewed title challenge.

More details are expected to follow once the medical is completed and official announcements are made.
